According to a recent report in the Columbus Dispatch, Schlichter is being investigated in a million-dollar scam sports tickets. Sources told the newspaper Schlichter started soliciting people for money as part of “investment opportunities” with the brokerage and sale of tickets for Ohio State football games and other popular sporting events for about two years ago. Schlichter then used the money collected to make large bets that two sources close to the investigation say exceeded six figures.

Schlichter, 50, was All-American for the Buckeyes and the fourth pick in 1982 NFL draft. He was suspended by the NFL in 1983 due to gambling and was one of the league two years later.

also spent more than 10 years of prison in 44 prisons and jails on charges of fraud and forgery for having deceived the people, money to feed his addiction to gambling, according to the Dispatch.
